This provides the static protection if you were to use the FRZA on a board that had power. \r\nThis was a much bigger issue before  the introduction of SMT technology and bed-of-nails testing.\r\n\r\nToday FRZ outsells FRZA by almost 8-1. Fifteen years ago that ratio would have been reversed.\r\n\r\nIn the end they both work very well.
